Our Story

Gravitas pens began in 2015 under a different name, Ben Walsh Design. Then, as now, it is run by Ben Walsh, who still designs and makes pens in his workshop in Dublin, Ireland. Ben used his years of experience as a cabinet maker and furniture designer to hand make concrete pens. Through his concrete pen business, Ben was able to make and maintain relationships with manufacturers and suppliers to some of the most widely known pen brands across the globe.

While Ben was making his pens, he started to conceive the idea of a premium pen brand made from top quality materials that would last a lifetime. This sent him down the rabbit hole of the ‘Precision machined' world. Using his contacts in the pen industry, he began work designing his pens and searching for the best manufacturers to make them.  Eventually, after dozens and dozens of iterations, through hundreds of hours of tweaking and changing the designs, Gravitas pens came into existence.
